Conference alert: With Justice and Dignity

North Park Community Church is hosting a special event on Saturday, January 19th, 2013, in partnership with Churches Together London.

With Justice and Dignity will be an amazing day of exploring ways in which your Church can enter into the neighbourhood and make a positive difference. In the spirit of Steve Corbett and Brian Fikkert's best selling book, When Helping Hurts, this day-long conference will connect both local and global practitioners helping the marginalized. The conference runs from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

The special and esteemed speaker will be Dr. Bob Lupton, who has invested more than 34 years in inner city Atlanta. He is a Christian community developer, and an entrepreneur who brings together communities of resource with communities of need.

Through Family Consultation Service Urban Ministries, which he directs, Bob Lupton has developed three mixed-income subdivisions, planted two multiracial churches, started many businesses, created housing for hundreds of families and initiated a wide variety of human services. He earned a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Georgia.

Dr Lupton is the author of four respected and insightful books:

  • Theirs is the Kingdom
  • Return Flight: Renewing the City,
  • Toxic Charity and Compassion
  • Justice and the Christian Life
Bob will speak three times on his work in Atlanta and the justice and dignity principles upon which it stands.
Many of Canada's brightest community-transformation practitioners will share their hopes, dreams and challenges in the workshops.
There will be 3 workshop timeslots and a total of 9 unique and interesting workshops to choose from.
